Jane Moore Wood was born in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains. She is decended from historically famous folk potter William Fowler "Daddy Bill" Dorsey of Mossy Creek, Georgia.
Jane is a graduate of Furman University and worked for Southern Bell (now AT & T) as a systems analyst. For a time she set aside her art for career and family. She is married and has 2 children – a son and a daughter.
She studied art for 9 years under Lydia Banks McCrary who taught techniques used by the old masters – from drawing tight realism to making oil paint by hand. Heartbreakingly the amazing paint was very toxic.
Jane has taught art lessons in Atlanta and Birmingham for several years.

She moved to Birmingham in 2010 and studied pottery under several Birmingham artists including nationally famous Larry Allen https://larryallenpottery.com .
Jane is currently a member of Central Alabama Artist Guild and Shelby County Art Council.
